The manual activity of cutting and carving tin is
traditional in Portugal ever since the days before electricity and plastic. It
started with the production of functional objects for everyday life: oil lamps,
lanterns of all sizes, olive oil bottles, funnels for filling sausages and
containers for wine or milk. These days, tinsmiths focus mainly on decorative
items but the quality and precision of their work remains the same.
